I officially have accomodations for bipolar now. Here they are:
- Extended one and one-half the standard in-class examination time; and
- Reduced-distraction testing location; and
- Rescheduling of deadlines for missed assignments (including examinations and quizzes and papers) upon receipt of verification from a certified clinician that work missed was due to the chronic condition disclosed to SDS.
Phew! This is a relief. Last year I missed loads of deadlines because of bipolar, either up or down. God forbid I need hospitalization again, this will come in handy. The testing accomodations are also very useful if I have reduced concentration from an episode.
All in all, think accomodations are super important for students with severe bipolar (which I’ve been told I have by hospital docs).
